Gabe Rogel

Gabe brings a unique combination of energy, verve and experience to each photograph he shoots. His work has appeared in countless magazines, catalogs and newspapers nationally and abroad. His credits include National Geographic Adventure, TIME Magazine, Men’s Journal and the Patagonia catalog. A consummate explorer, Gabe has been known to stand on the hoods of moving vehicles, rappel off 3000 foot rock walls and ski from the summit of an 8000 meter peak just to capture that perfect image. Gabe and his eye for photojournalistic style and artistic flair can be found wherever adventure lies. He’s traveled around the world to shoot mountains, people and subjects in places as diverse as Kazakhstan, Oman, Corsica, India, Ethiopia, Thailand, Russia, Tibet, Namibia, Argentina and Greenland.

Gabe started pursuing photography following a year of solo travel in Nepal, Thailand and the lower 48. During this travel he honed his survival and photography skills. Upon returning, he solidified his passion for capturing enduring images with a degree in professional photography. More than a decade later, he still possesses the wanderlust and passion for creating the perfect image. As an avid skier, climber, trail horse rider, and traveler, he understands his subjects for their drive and appreciates them for their passion. His relationships with his subjects percolate to his photographs and show the true heart of his work.

Gabe sums up his experiences seeking photo packs that work for him: “Over the years, I’ve cut, sewn and padded more potential photo packs than I’d like to admit. For the last 10 years, I’ve been in search of the ultimate photo back for backcountry and lift served skiing. Most are too small, or carry horribly. When I stumbled across Clik Elite’s Contrejour 35, I knew I’d finally found what I’d been looking for all these years: a pack that will safely and comfortably carry all my camera year and have back panel access, while (and here’s the key part) carrying all my backcountry and ski mountaineering gear (shovel, probe, ice tool or two, food, water, extra clothing, etc.) and allow me to carry my skis diagonally. After realizing this pack would do all of this (and looked cool), I quickly checked out the rest of the Clik Elite line up, and was blow away by the ingenuity and quality these guys are building into each pack.”

The Probody Sport pack also works well for Gabe. To his knowledge, Gabe says, “no company has ever built a camera pack so specific. I see this pack as the ultimate tool to carrying and supporting mountain biking photo adventures. However, this pack could just as easily be used for alpine climbing, hiking or cruising around another country. Ultimately, it’s refreshing to see a company so devoted to the very specific needs of their customers, while building products with bomber quality.”
